Eric Pedersen, principal director of Pedersen Pierce Ltd was a New Zealand Ministry of Education senior manager (1990-1998) and key strategist during the major education (decentralisation) reforms of the 1990s. These education reforms have set international benchmarks in:
- decentralisation of governance, management and administration to school boards and principals;
- formula-based funding of schools;
- direct payment to school board bank accounts; and
- employment responsibilities by school boards including school director and teachers.
New Zealand Experience
As Senior Manager of Early Childhood and Schools Resourcing, Eric was responsible for New Zealand school finances (over $2 billion) and the subsidised funding of the early childhood sector.
