In March 2007, the then-Minister of Education appointed an Establishment Board of Trustees for Snells Beach School and the process of establishing the school began. Pedersen Pierce Ltd. worked with this Establishment Board to develop a vision for the school, to design and build the school, and to appoint staff.
The new school, with 10 classrooms and a state-of-the-art library, hall and administration block built to cater for the anticipated final size of the school (20 classrooms), opened on February 5, 2009, with a roll of 123 students from Years 1 to 6.
The school was designed by architects Brewer Davidson and built by project managers Naylor Love, qualifying for a Green Star rating as an environmentally sensitive building. The design blends with the local environment, has excellent passive solar heating features, features good indoor/outdoor flow and ventilation and allows for flexibility of teaching spaces. The school is well-resourced with computers and other technologies.
Pedersen Pierce congratulates the Establishment Board of Trustees, staff, pupils, parents and wider community of Snells Beach School on the opening of their new school.
Pedersen Pierce will continue to work with the Establishment Board towards the handover of governance to the first elected Board of Trustees during 2009.
