Auckland Special Education Network Strategy

The Auckland Special Education Network Strategy Project set out to develop a consistent approach to making decisions about the local special education schooling network for ORRS-funded students and those with Section 9 Agreements in the Auckland region.

The Ministry of Education’s Auckland Regional Office consulted with interested parties about a draft approach to give guidance to boards of trustees and Ministry planners.

Pedersen Pierce Ltd was contracted by the Ministry to facilitate the development of a draft strategy and the consultation phase.


A Reference Group was established to assist with the development of the strategy and to advise, monitor and evaluate the consultation phase.

An agreed strategy was presented to the minister in 2008. The strategy is scheduled to be implemented in 2009.
